Privacy and Data Protection

§1 General
* We respect your right to confidential handling of your data. Whenever we collect, store or process personal data this is done in strictest compliance with the data protection provisions of the Federal Republic of Germany.
* Generally, we only ask for personal data to be provided where this is absolutely necessary in order to use one of our services. It is your choice whether to provide data where the collection of such data is not directly required in order to use our services; similarly, we do not make the provision of such data a prerequisite for using our Internet services.
* We reserve the right to change our data protection guidelines where necessary and to adapt them to new statutory conditions.
* Unfortunately, online shops are experiencing an increase in cases of fraud and we are also affected by this. Please therefore note that we will immediately report any fraud – including any attempt at fraud – to the police. When purchases are made from the Gehring shop the IP address of the customer is also logged so that the identity can be proved at a later date.
* In the event of problems in posting an outstanding invoice amount (returned debit note, invalid credit card data, etc.) the customer will in every case receive an e-mail giving him the opportunity to give an opinion and correct his payment details accordingly.

§2 Use and processing of your data
* We will only use your data for the purpose for which you made it available to us – namely to process orders for goods from our online shop.
* You may revoke any permissions you have granted with regard to the use of your data at any time. We will take all necessary measures to implement this revocation as quickly as possible.
* You may inspect and update the data that we store on you at any time.
* We will only transfer your data to third parties with your express consent. This applies in particular to your e-mail address, which we will not under any circumstances forward to third parties without your consent. You will only receive e-mails from us at your own request (e.g. by subscribing to our newsletter). In all other cases we will only inform our customers by e-mail in exceptional circumstances (e.g. if our server is experiencing technical problems, etc).

* We use secure transfer technologies and take appropriate technical measures to keep your data secure on our Internet server. However, we are unable to give an absolute guarantee as regards technical breakdowns and security holes.

§3 Secure data transmission
* As soon as you proceed to the virtual checkout with your shopping basket, our online shop switches to the secure SSL server. We use 128-bit encryption.
* Third parties cannot read or change your data via the Internet while you are on our server. Sensitive information such as account numbers or credit card data is therefore transmitted securely.
* Our SSL certificate is recognised by all current browser generations of MS Internet Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla, Firefox, Safari, Konqueror and Opera through to AOL.

§4 Measures to ensure operating security
* To prevent any possible misuse, we automatically delete all sensitive data from our database once your order has been successfully processed. This is done in order to protect our customers in the event of any attack on our Internet server.
* We shall not accept any liability in respect of consequential damage suffered by the customer in the event of any intrusion into our server technology (and any resulting theft of sensitive customer data).

§5 Use of cookies
* Use of our shopping technology involves the use of cookies. A session ID is stored on your computer; we require this so that we can uniquely identify key functions of the online shop (e.g. the shopping basket) with your computer. If you have not activated cookies, “URL rewriting” is automatically used (i.e. with every click in our shop the session ID is also carried in the website address).
* Where necessary, we may on technical grounds use cookies to analyse the contents of our web server that are called up and to optimise our Internet offering.

§6 Obligations incumbent on the customer
* As a customer of the Gehring online shop you undertake not to forward to any third parties your account data that allow access to your online account.
* The customer is also obliged to give accurate information regarding his data, especially as regards the invoice address, his date of birth and his e-mail address.
* We reserve the right to withdraw from the sales contract if incorrect data is provided or if data is not provided and if we obtain knowledge of this.
